Ready for High School
“From workshops to a spectacular bridge party and an inspiring parents’ night: the project Ready for High School was a great success. Together with our partners, we helped over 270 students and their parents prepare for the transition to secondary school.”
We look back with pride on a particularly successful project: Ready for High School. This project was organized by the youth services department and was made possible thanks to a valuable partnership with Halt, Karate Moerdijk, meer Moerdijk, and the Municipality of Moerdijk.
Led by Nikita The entire youth services team worked with great enthusiasm to prepare students and parents as well as possible for the transition to secondary school. Together, we put together a program that was not only informative but also fostered connection, fun, and self-confidence.
An impressive range
During the project, we managed to:
- 270 students reached
- From 12 different elementary schools
- Participated in various workshops and activities focused on the transition to secondary school
A festive finale: the Bridge Festival
To wrap things up, we organized a special event on our own initiative Bridge Festival for incoming freshmen. Students could register for this event via our website. The party took place in the auditorium of Markland College in Zevenbergen and gave young people the chance to meet new peers and enjoy a fantastic evening together.
With 76 visitors The turnout was excellent. DJ Leroy Krielen provided the music and kept the dance floor packed. Kevin also surprised the audience with two live performances, capturing everyone’s attention.
The atmosphere was fantastic, and everyone had a great time. Even after the event, we received many positive comments from parents, who said their children had thoroughly enjoyed the evening. A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers who helped make the Brugfeest an unforgettable success.
Parents Prepared for a New Phase
In addition to the students, we also wanted to support parents during this important transition. That is why we organized an interactive parent meeting in the Moerdijk room at City Hall.
Before the evening began, the alderman opened the event Pauline Joosten the meeting. Next, the parenting expert and author Steven Pont an inspiring lecture on the topic of ‘Understanding Adolescents Better’. During the evening, questions were discussed, experiences were shared, and parents were given practical tips for the coming years.
With 36 visitors This event was also well attended. As an extra surprise, visitors had the chance to win signed copies of Steven Pont’s books, which were raffled off during the evening.
Proud of the result
The project Ready for High School shows what is possible when organizations, volunteers, and professionals join forces. Thanks to the dedication of all the partners involved, the volunteers, and the entire youth work team, hundreds of young people and their parents have received a positive, educational, and festive send-off as they embark on a new phase in their lives.
We look back on this project with great pride and would like to thank everyone who contributed to this wonderful success. See you again next year!
